Celebrate Pride with San Francisco Public Library (SFPL), dubbed the “Queerest. Libaray. Ever.” SFPL, home to the Hormel LGBTQIA Center, is set to host dozens of free Pride programs for all ages throughout the month of June. 

“During Pride, and beyond, we celebrate the vast and diverse accomplishments of LGBTQIA people from around the globe and right here in San Francisco,” says Hormel Center Manager Cristina Mitra. “There is something for everyone during Pride at the Library and we look forward to celebrating with you.” 

There will be Pride programs at the Hormel Center on the 3rd Floor of the Main Library and at Library locations throughout the City. On June 9, in conjunction with the Authentic Selves Photo exhibit, the Hormel Center hosts a discussion with contributors to the book, Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and Their Families. Therese Rodriguez, pioneer Filipino immigrant and human rights activist, presents her new collection of poetry on June 13 and on that same day, Kim Shuck’s Poem Jam honors the multicultural lesbian literary and art journal Sinister Wisdom. 
 
Families are welcome to kick off Pride Month on June 1 during Pride in the Presidio at the Presidio Tunnel Tops. Other family programs include Pride-themed story times, rainbow cookie decorating and more. For teens we have Queer and Trans Social Hours and a graphic novel book club.

Presentation: Art, Activism & Equity, June 1, 3 – 5 p.m., Main Library, Latino/Hispanic Room 
Come take a deep dive into how San Francisco’s BIPOC, Queer artists, activists and their allies, changed the narrative from exclusion to empowerment, transforming our city and the country. 

Presentation: SF LGBT Center's Resources for Entrepreneurs, June 5, 2 – 2:45 p.m., Virtual 
Learn how the SF LGBT Center assists LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs in San Francisco through various programs, including one-on-one business consulting and coaching, business workshops, a new entrepreneur training program and referrals to their vast small business development network for funding and more.

Discuss The Well of Loneliness, the classic 1928 lesbian novel by British author Radclyffe Hall.  
 
Panel: Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People, June 9, 2 – 3:30 p.m., Main Library, Hormel Center, 3rd Floor 
In conjunction with the Authentic Selves Photo Exhibit, a discussion with contributors to the book, Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and Their Families including Lana Patel, Anjali Rimi and Fresh “Lev” White, with moderator and contributor, Jozeppi Angelo Morelli.

The multi-faceted Therese R. Rodriguez—pioneer Filipino immigrant, nationalist community organizer, human rights activist, unabashed LGBTQIA advocate, APICHA head and iconic leader on Asia-Pacific issues—surprises us once more with a breathtaking poetic summary of her life. 

Performance: Kim Shuck's Poem Jam Celebrates Sinister Wisdom, June 13, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Main Library, Latino/Hispanic Room, Lower Level 
San Francisco Poet Laureate emerita Kim Shuck invites writers published in the latest issue of the multicultural lesbian literary & art journal Sinister Wisdom to read their work. 

Book Club: Mysteries at Milk Memorial, June 16, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Eureka Valley/Harvey Milk Memorial and Virtual If you enjoy a good whodunit, spend an hour hashing out the details of this month’s mystery novel: Lev AC Rosen's Lavender House.  

Activity: Zinething, June 18, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Main Library, Fulton Room, 3rd Floor 
A monthly LGBTQIA zine-making meetup presented by SF Zine Fest in partnership with the Hormel LGBTQIA Center. Open to new and experienced zinesters. Tell your story, tell your truth! Every 3rd Tuesday of the month. 

 
Book Club: Somewhere in Time Historical Fiction, June 23, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Eureka Valley/Harvey Milk Memorial and Virtual Library 
If you enjoy some history in your fiction, spend an hour hashing out the details of—and the history behind—this month’s selection. M Shelly Conner's Everyman: "Eve Mann arrives in Ideal, Georgia, in 1972 looking for answers about the mother who died giving her life."  

Social: LGBTQIA Book Swap, June 27, 3 p.m., Main Library, Stong Room, 1st Floor 
Bring queer fiction in good condition and exchange it for something new to you. We will have a selection of recent award-winning fiction, science fiction and mysteries, and we encourage you to talk about your favorite queer books with us and other book lovers. 

Social: First Floor Film Club — Milk, June 27, 6 p.m, Main Library, Stong Room, 1st Floor 
For the eighth meeting of the First Floor Film Club, participants are asked to watch Milk (R, 129 min., 2008) and come prepared to discuss the film's representation of San Francisco. DVDs of the film can be requested at the Information Desk or through the library catalog.
