Skateboarding and music go hand in hand. Popular skateboarding videos filmed during the late 1980s and ‘90s featured a spectrum of music spanning from jazz to hip hop. During their interviews at the San Francisco Public Library, we asked a few local skateboarders what albums they enjoy listening to most while skating. Read about their favorites and why these particular albums inspire them to skate the streets of San Francisco. All albums are available to check out in the Audiovisual Center on the first floor.
This display is in conversation with the Skateboarding San Francisco: Concrete, Community, Continuity exhibition on view in Jewett Gallery on the lower level.
One copy is available of each album, so place a hold if the copy you’re interested in is currently checked out.
