A monthly discussion on crime novels featuring amateur sleuths, quirky characters and homey communities. This month’s novel is The Verifiers by Jane Pek. As a lifelong mystery reader, Claudia Lin believes she’s landed her ideal job verifying people’s online lives, and lies, for a dating detective agency in New York City. But when a client vanishes, Claudia breaks protocol to investigate—and uncovers a maelstrom of personal and corporate deceit.
