Robert will report on his research into the vast vocabulary for the atabaque drums used in the Afro-Brazilian practice of Candomblé and how they manifest in folk practice throughout the Americas.
Robert Lopez is a percussionist and educator with a background in various types of music including the folkloric traditions of Brazil, Ghana and Cuba. This lecture is presented as part of Robert’s engagement at the San Francisco International Arts Festival and will be held at Café la Bohème, located at 3318 24th St. (@ Osage).
