本課程將介紹家庭網絡的基本概念,包括 Wi-Fi 和有線連接的區別、路由器和調製解調器的作用,以及影響網速的主要因素。學員將學習如何使用 Ookla Speed Test 和 Google Speed Test 來測試網絡速度,並理解下載速度、上傳速度和延遲(Ping)的意義。通過本課程,學員將能夠更好地管理和優化家庭網絡,以獲得更流暢的互聯網體驗。

This course will introduce the fundamental concepts of home internet connections, including the differences between Wi-Fi and wired connections, the roles of routers and modems, and the key factors that affect internet speed. Participants will learn how to measure their internet speed using Ookla Speed Test and Google Speed Test, and understand the significance of download speed, upload speed, and latency (Ping). By the end of this course, participants will be able to manage and optimize their home internet connections for a smoother and more efficient online experience. Presented in Mandarin.

Self-Help for the Elderly supports San Francisco seniors with trustworthy care, promoting independence and dignity, since 1966. Their non-profit services and companionship guide seniors towards wellness and happiness. SF Connected is an initiative that provides free computer tutoring and support to seniors and adults with disabilities in the San Francisco area.

SF Connected is funded by a Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant. Half of this grant was allocated to the Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) to spearhead a digital initiative for seniors and adults with disabilities, leading to the formation of SF Connected.
