3:00 - 4:00
The San Francisco Environment Department will teach participants about the City’s composting program and how your compostable materials (like food scraps, paper towels, yard debris, etc.,) reduce what is sent to the landfill and help create healthy soils that combat climate change. We’ll explore what happens to your compost after it’s collected, share tips for maintaining a home compost pail and offer food waste prevention strategies that could help save you money. Attendees will also learn about where to go for backyard composting workshops and how to access free City compost. Depending on availability, attendees may get a chance to plant seeds in a mix of soil and municipal compost to take home. Be part of the solution and learn how you can contribute to a more sustainable community!
