Learn the art of Japanese woodblock printing with printmaking artist, Tomoko Murakami. This workshop will include a carving and printing demonstration, and participants will create their own small ukiyo-e (floating world woodblock) prints. 

All materials are provided, and all levels are welcome.

Tomoko Murakami received her MFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and her MA in Transformative Arts from John F. Kennedy University. She is also a Registered Expressive Art Educator with the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (REACE). Her career includes teaching at California College of the Arts, John F. Kennedy University and Santa Rosa Junior College, among other community centers throughout the SF Bay Area. Aside from her long career in teaching, Tomoko is skilled in restoring the beauty and integrity of Asian paintings.

Tomoko received the 1992 Kala Art Institute Fellowship and the 2008 Susan Boulet Fellowship Award and took first prize at the Sebastopol Art Center’s 2021 Black & White Exhibition.
